Campaign Summary: University of Leipzig

Summary of University of Leipzig’s Anti-BDS Resolution

On August 2, 2016, the Student Council of the University of Leipzig adopted the included statement, opposing BDS due to its anti-Semitism. The Council’s decision drew on a much longer resolution, also linked here, introduced on July 9, 2016, by student representatives of the Institute for Cultural Studies at the University. The Leipzig resolution is important because it is one of the first statements from a campus taking a stance against BDS and secondly, it came from a department within the humanities — generally, the place anti-Israel sentiment is strongest.
